The Exco members of the Nigerian community in Italy are on the verge of bringing down the roof if there are no urgent actions to resolve the impasse. This was brought to the notice of International Advocacy for Human Rights and Anti-Corruption (IAHRAC) by one of the executive members of the local branch of NUNAI. The matter is presently being investigated by the organisation’s casework committee (IAHRAC). The preliminary investigations have shown that certain individuals have acted against the constitution of the national body of NUNAI. It has also been established that the power tussle is flexing muscles amongst them, who are already living fat from the levies that have been collected from Nigerian citizens living in various parts of the country. This is the development story, and the public will be adequately furnished with the relevant outcome of our findings, as we will continue to work with the executives to make sure that the matter is put to rest amicably. However, evidence revealed that the Treasurer of NUNAI is currently keeping approximately 28,000 euros belonging to the organisation in her personal bank account. This is seen by IAHRAC as tax evasion and tantamount to fraud.
In the event this matter is not resolved, IAHRAC will be left with no choice, but to inform the Italian government of the current situation for an investigation.
